Yet Arturo is worried about yearly P&L. 

 

Sports teams are no longer owned to be a source of annual profits. If you need annual profits then you can't afford a franchise. Being an owner is membership in a club. That club is worth more than a team's yearly profits. It is a gateway to connections that give you influence and opportunity to make money in other ventures.

 

There are easier ways to make a profit than to build a winning sports franchise. If you want the prestige of being a team owner then you have to pay the admission. In the end you likely earn much more in the team's sale than you do being in the black at the end of your fiscal year.

Take what I say with a grain of salt. I'm not a billionaire, a sports franchise owner and I don't know Arte's end game.

 

I do think Arte should sell. He's been great for many years but he's become an overall detriment to the team.

this is true and has never been in doubt.  In fact, he better be.  

 

For me, it's more about the realization that he's not the owner I'd hoped he was.  He cares about all the stuff you'd expect a billionaire to care about.  It's why he's a billionaire.  

 

We want him to put some of that equity into the team.  Take on a little debt to give Trout some help.  

 

But he's not willing and that's his choice.  One that is reasonable but not very fun for us.
