2016 Spring notes: Angels

If Calhoun is going to approach hitting the same way he did last season, he needs to be moved to the 5-spot. A .308 OBP directly in front of Trout, when you know pitchers will want to pitch to you is crap. Calhoun's better than that.

And as for Choi, he's a reserve for now. But eventually this team is going to grow so desperate for runs that they'll move him to the everyday LF spot and he'll be hitting in front of Trout.

Not lying, I expect Choi will grow into a .280/.360 30 DB 15 HR type of hitter. Those may not be his numbers this season but I think that's what he'll grow into and that's bold, to predict a Rule 5 pick will step in and produce like that on a team with championship aspiration. So if you'd like to hold me to that, feel free.

Don't think we need to keep track of it, b/c if he's even within shouting distance of what you project, I'm sure you'll remind us of it constantly.

Sometimes you need to be reminded when you're being a passive-aggressive jerkface that insults and ignores.  One that disappears when he's dead-wrong and drops a bunch of "I told you so's" when he's right.  At least one of us is owning up to it, coward.

would love to see KC masterpiece be more like the guy he was in the minors.  that's gonna be tough as he was a beast and older for his level.

nonetheless, if he can walk 50+ times and cut the k's back to around 120-130, he'll be of tremendous value.  Personally, I'd like to see him hit 3rd behind Trout 2nd and Albert 4th, but we know that's never gonna happen.

I also like the idea of him hitting 5th in front of Cron.

Choi has a lot to prove after his PED bust.  We really don't have much of a sample following that because of his suspension and injury so at this point he's a total crapshoot.

From what I have seen, he seems pretty polished.  Hopefully, that translates and he can do what he does which is get on base at a tremendous rate.  I'm skeptical that there will be any power whatsoever, but again, I just haven't seen enough of him to this point.

I'll gladly settle for a .330/.340 OBP from I'm the Man Choi, and hope the LF defense is decent enough to go with the solid 1B defense.

That makes him versatile enough.

Whatever power he supplies is a bonus.

As for Guerra, the Halos can use all of the pitching they can find.

This year's team will need to specialize in pitching and defense, what with question marks in half of the batting order.
