I feel like A's fans should be calling for Beane's head the way we call for Scioscia's? They had the best record in baseball last year before he blew the team up and he follows that up by trading Donaldson who goes on to win an MVP? How do you get a promotion after that

The A's go from bad to good in cycles. You really can't argue much with the way they somehow find the best pitchers every decade.

They survive on the draft. Small market teams can't do it any other way.

Last year trade deadline to now, Beane has made some of the worst moves I can ever recall a team making.

Trading Cespedes for pitching, to try get them farther into the post season was a huge gamble, and it didn't work.

To put it mildly...but I get why he did it.

It was an all or nothing kind of move, that ended up getting nothing.

He's had competitive teams. I don't see why Oakland would do anything else.

Billy Beane is the biggest hack in all of sports. I can't fathom any of his disastrous trades. He traded Donaldson, Cespedes, et al... and then signed Billy Butler for $30M

He's become a parody of himself at this point.

That team needs to move to a real stadium, and get real revenues so it can spend competitive dollars.  Half of the moves he makes is due to financial constraints more than helping the team.

The Butler signing, with that stadium setup, was absolutely non-sensical.   Especially since he was already declining in 2014 in KC.

 

MLB needs to step in, and let the Giants know that Oakland moving to say San Jose isn't going to hurt their fan base.

That part of Oakland will always be a bad place for MLB to be in.

And if you have ever heard him talk about it, those restraints have saved him from many mistakes he would have gladly made has he had the funds...   To his credit he's been honest about it.

I agree. Beane somehow gets a pass for these disasterous moves because his team has no workable budget.

Beane did a pretty good job overall until he traded the soul of the club to go all in for two months of Jon Lester. Now both Lester and Cespedes are in the postseason while his club sits at home.
