If the Astros lose tonight, the Rangers will have nothing to play for tomorrow.  They will start the playoffs on the road no matter what, so they would most likely sit most of their starters to give them time off (and avoid injury) before their game 1 of the ALDS.  I'll take whatever advantage I can get going into the last game of the season.

Besides, after today's loss, the Rangers are going to be out for blood tomorrow.

Let's hope the D-Backs have the free tacos for 5 runs thingy on tonight.  Maybe that will give them some incentive to score anyway.  Of course they probably burned up most of the relief pitching last night trying to keep the Astros from setting  MLB scoring record.

The most aggravating part is WHY the Angels suddenly have urgency when their back is up against the wall. 

 

Why couldn't they have done this months earlier, just once or twice, so the season isn't being decided by game 162 (or 163)?  Again, this falls on this coaching staff for not getting the team fired up much sooner...

I said it mostly for the crowd who supports the current coaching staff. 

 

It's hard to make a case for our staff being "good" when other teams consistently take care of business early.  Procrastination hardly ever ends well.

This is a year where we have below average pitching AND below average hitting and yet going into game 162 we have a chance at the playoffs and we're going to bitch about the coaching staff. I swear to God you guys must be completely useless at work without being micromanaged. Also this thread is total shit after the win today.

I hear what you're saying but the AL West was extremely weak this year.  The winner of the division will have, at most, 88 wins.

 

Today's game was excellent and I enjoyed it very much.  The coaching staff did their part (and more) to motivate the team.  I just wish this would have happened much earlier in the season, that's all.

Because those games are of the "tip your cap, turn the page" variety.

 

Urgency is saved for the final week.
