Were those 300 people vaccinated for measles? If so, why are they worried so much? What if the parents are illegals, you still want them sued? Seems to be a nothing burger to me.

Good question, Jason!

First off, children aren't fully vaccinated against measles until they are 5 or 6 years old. So a newborn, infant, toddler, or young child who happens to be in the hospital is at risk.

Secondly, folks with immunity issues are susceptible to measles whether or not they were vaccinated against it as children. Some children are unable to receive the vaccination because of having a condition that causes them to be immunocompromised.

Choosing not to give your child scientifically proven, almost-a-century-long tested, life-saving effective vaccines because of some shit, easily debunked research you did while sitting on the toilet is actually a very selfish and dangerous decision — for both your poor child and the rest of society.

This was a disease that was pretty much eradicated in the U.S. until people decided to be gullible on Facebook.

Such a dunce.

I agree fully with you. According to the article, Vaccination rates are still around 92% so it is just some fringe Facebook junkies not vaccinating their babies. The general population is not that high of a risk of contacting it.

I meant to say "century-long tested." Thanks for the correction.

The measles vaccine was invented in 1963 based on science of the 1952 polio vaccine. So perhaps it's not fully a century, but long enough for anyone to understand the science.

But outside the general population are innocent folks who are still vulnerable, and, like I said, children under 6.

I wonder how many of the illegal border crossing folks are fully vaccinated?

Most likely. South and Central American countries also provide childhood vaccines. Don't let Larry's weirdness make you stereotype all the brown folks.

The article says 93% effective after the first dose and that is pretty good.

China has the highest measles vaccination rate at 99%, simply because you have no choice. Most of Asia is in that category along with Israel and pretty much the entire Middle East at 99-98%. The lower South American countries drop below 70%. The African nations are abysmal at vaccination rates at well below 60%.
