Gary Matthews Jr selling his house for $15.5 million

Recommended Posts

My sister worked for the interior designer who redid his house. He put a lot of money into it.

Never mind. I read the article. It was a different house of his.

Edit: wrong again. It was the house. She said he put about $7 million into it including about $5 million for the pool.

How do you spend $5M on a pool? What, did he put in Sea World?

I think it was more his .313 average and .866 OPS.

Maybe you are being sarcastic instead of your usual contrarian thing, but if you don't think that contract was based on that stupid catch, you haven't been paying attention to this ownership for the last 10 years.

All the talk of his catch and contract remind me of a posters signature (maybe MHD?) of Matthews Jr. making that catch except instead of him catching the ball it was a bag of money.  I saw the guy at the gym one time when he was out of baseball but still getting paid by the Angels and thought what a great gig.  Getting paid millions to not play, living in OC and people still went up to him and wanted to meet him because he had made it to the highest level.

The lot it was in sold for $3 million. It will get at least $5.

My sister thinks he'll get close to the $15 he's asking. She says it's an amazing location with a great view.

I didn't realize he was on the cliff in Irvine Terrace. You're right, he'll get over 5.

I still think 15 is way too high though.

When the HGH issue became public knowledge, I thought and suggested that Arte go after GMJr for fraudulent inducement to contract and breach of contract. He was going to pay him either way, so he should have made GMJr the test case about drugs and PEDs and fought him in court over it. I wonder how things would have turned out with Hamilton and A-Fraud had they made GMJr a test case.

This will teach the high school kids, college, minor leagues to avoid roids

they cause brain damage to the point where spending $5M on a swimming pool seems like a good idea?

Gary matthews jr...the outfielder we were stupid enough to pay 10 mill a year for shitty numbers...before we were stupid enough to pay vernon wells 20 mill a year to put up shitty numbers....before we were stupid enough to pay josh hamilton 25 million a year to put up shitty numbers.

Maybe arte just has really bad luck picking outfielders?
