Employee stole $400G, squandered it on strippers, sports tickets, authorities say

A trucking company employee in western Pennsylvania blew nearly $400,000 on strippers and tickets to sporting events after funneling the money from customer payments to his personal bank account, authorities said.

James R. Perry Jr., 29, of Coraopolis, Pa., was arrested Monday on theft and other charges, Pittsburgh's WPXI-TV reported.

Authorities say Perry, as the director of credit, billing and collections at R&R Express, funneled $373,928 to his personal account since April 2015.

But the company may have trouble recover the money: Investigators say the man spent his illegal windfall on strip clubs, adult entertainment, casinos and other activities.

Controversial MLB logo retired after team is knocked out of playoffs

Controversial MLB logo retired after team is knocked out of playoffs

The Cleveland Indians’ season ended Monday after a loss to the Houston Astros eliminated them from the American League Division Series, and with that came the end of Chief Wahoo, the club's controversial mascot.

The exit occurred on Columbus Day, or what many communities alternatively call Indigenous Peoples' Day.

The Indians announced in January they would remove the Chief Wahoo emblem from jerseys and caps before the 2019 season, bowing to pressure from critics who have called it culturally offensive.

The logo, which had been used by the team since 1947, has been deemed racist and offensive by critics.

US troops drink Iceland capital’s entire beer supply in one weekend

Thousands of U.S. soldiers depleted all of the beer in Iceland’s capital over the weekend.

More than 6,000 soldiers were in Reykjavik for four days participating in the Trident Juncture 18 – a NATO-led military exercise. After their drills, the troops reportedly visited the city’s downtown bars, where they finished off the entire beer supply.

According to Icelandinc magazine Visir, the brewery Ölgerð Egils Skallagrímssonar had to send emergency beer cases to the bars.

Bar owners reportedly said they have never experienced a situation similar to this before.

The soldiers first came in to the port on Wednesday night and left Sunday, but managed to drink the entire time they were visiting, Visir reported.

Toyota's new pickup makes pizza

Toyota built a truck that’s business up front and a pizza party in the back.

The Tundra has been converted to run on electricity provided by a hydrogen fuel cell and equipped with a robotic kitchen in the bed that was designed in collaboration with Pizza Hut, which shares Toyota’s new Plano, Tex., home.

Using two mechanical arms, the kitchen is able to grab a prepared pizza from a refrigerator, place it on a conveyor belt oven, remove it from the other side when it’s done, slice it, box it and hand it to someone standing next to the truck.

The entire process takes less than 7 minutes, which means it could be completed during a typical delivery run. Could being the operative word.

The truck is only being used as a promotional vehicle at the Specialty Equipment Markets Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, but it may offer a glimpse at a real future.

Back in January Toyota and Pizza Hut announced they are working together on developing autonomous mobile stores, and one that could make the pizza itself would double down on that idea.

Josh Davis, a 36-year-old Red Sox fan, was brutally assaulted by whom he believes were a group of Dodgers fans after Boston won the World Series Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Red Sox fan recovering after allegedly being stabbed, pummeled by Dodgers fans following World Series win

Instead of celebrating Boston’s World Series Championship on Sunday, a Red Sox fan was recovering in a Los Angeles hospital after an alleged brutal attack by Dodgers fans following the win.

Josh Davis, 36, says he was stabbed five times with a screwdriver, had many of his teeth knocked out and his nose fractured in a brawl against as many as 10 Dodgers fans, Yahoo reported. He was first confronted by two men while walking home in Los Angeles’ Koreatown neighborhood Sunday night.

"Get your (expletive) out of here, this is Dodger country right here," one man allegedly said to Davis, who was sporting Red Sox gear. Davis recalled one of the men was wearing a Dodgers hat and jersey, New England Cable News reported.

Davis, a Massachusetts native who now lives in Los Angeles, wrote on Facebook on Wednesday that as the trash talk escalated, he “brawled” with the two men. When a third whistled for more help, Davis quickly found himself swarmed by a large group and “started to fear for my life.”
