March 2013 -Boris Berezovsky, former Kremlin power broker turned Putin critic, found dead in his UK home

February 2015 Boris Nemtsov, Former deputy prime minister under President Boris Yeltsin, murdered as he walked home after a dinner with his girlfriend.

 

Estimated 70,000 people marched on the Kremlin in protest.
