I am sure it will be well made, and the way they are covering the sensors on the back is nice.

 

The form of it is really ugly though.  The Moto 360 looks much nicer.

Yes, you still swipe between screens etc.  They just don't have pinch to zoom.  You use the scroll wheel.  Really odd since Apple was the company that was against the hardware buttons.

you're going to need fingers the size of a toothpick to accurately swipe the app you want. that eliminates me right there.

 

apparently it shows you exactly where you're located once you turn it on in the morning.

I thought it was interesting that as they made the announcements the stock price for Apple started rising. Then when they said it will only work with the iPhone and won't be out till next year the stock price fell. I think investors felt that they were limiting the scope of the product, and weren't happy it wouldn't be out for Christmas.

 

Anyone thinking they will get this? I just have no interest in a smartwatch.

I have no interest in a smartwatch whose battery life is less than 1 day and needs an iPhone to work.

I'd get smart glasses before a smart watch.  And I like wearing watches.  But just for telling the time.  I can take out my phone for everything else.  I guess for fitness people, I can see a use for it.  But I'm sure there are cheaper better alternatives.  And at least with glasses you can record what you are seeing.  (side note, I don't understand these police forces using these cameras fixed on their body.  What your body is pointing at, and what the police officer is actually observing can be two totally different things)

 

Another big question, how does a watch hold up under the sun?  Or is it like a smartphone, and you can barely see it?

My wife has a smart watch and she loves it.  Getting notifications on your wrist instead of having to grab the phone is a nice convenience.  Especially while driving or in a meeting, etc.

This is on of the few reasons I would buy a smart watch. Many times I miss texts, calls and reminders because I don't feel the phone vibrate in my pocket. The biometric aspect is also nice as well.

I like the potential of these, and might get a droid one, but as a teacher, I hate them. 

 

i wonder when they're going to start showing up in our classrooms. gonna have to develop some new guidelines for them.

 

has anyone at your school brought in google glasses? we haven't seen any of those yet.

I have the Gear Fit and I love it.  Instant notifications...use it working out at the gym with a bluetooth headset.  No need to take my phone out to change music or adjust volume.  All on the watch.

Not impressed by the keynote. I think my Fitbit Charge HR is good enough for me right now.

Looks amazing.  Does so much more than the other watches on the market.

what workout app do you use replay?  I'm a hamster bike for my excercise, so I've been using Endomondo.  They are the only app I've found that actually thinks hamster bikes are exercise, and will track it.  

 

Biggest downside to the gear fit is they don't let 3rd party apps access the heart rate monitor for some reason.  If they had that, and a few small things, it's a great cheap watch.  Or more of a remote for your phone.
