How does MLB schedule teams with a day off on labor day?

So an even thirty? So everyone can have a dance partner. Four teams aren't playing today, and two are in the AL west, and playing each other tomorrow.

It's definitely strange scheduling... do teams usually have a day off on Labor Day? It's practically the best time for everyone to watch a baseball game.

I'm glad they had the day off yesterday. Only one more of those the rest of the way...until the break between the end of the season and the Division Series.

I was wondering the same thing. They could have had them play yesterday and today and then had tomorrow as an off day for both teams but oh well.

The schedule is an impossible jigsaw puzzle.

There are a lot of rules about travel and frequency of off days that make it incredibly complicated.

You can't play more than 20 days in a row without an off day. You also can't travel from the west coast to the east coast without an off day.

In this case, if you look at the Astros schedule, they are already off on Thursday. So if this series went Monday and Tuesday they'd have 2 days off.
