Hector Santiago after May 7 (5.19 ERA at that point) ---

Recommended Posts

55.2 innings, 39 hits, 3 HRs allowed, 48/18 Ks/BBs, 2.60 ERA, 1.02 WHIP

Now that's the guy we need.    The 3 HRs allowed is a pleasant surprise, given his GB/FB ratio the past 3+ months (45/110).

He's helped of course by pitching in 3 pitching friendly parks in the AL West (Anaheim, Oakland, and Seattle).

The one issue is the pitch counts still being a little high, although 98 pitches in 6 innings vs. Boston is pretty solid, especially allowing just 2 hits.

Combining current success with recent success, the best rotation going forward is:  Richards, Weaver, Santiago, Cobbler, and Nibs.

The bullpen is so deep and so good, all the Angels actually need from the likes of Santiago, Shoe & CJ is 5 innings and 3 ER.

I wish that was true. With the way the offense has been since the ASB, that won't get the job done. In most games, the starters can't give up more than a run if the team is going to have a decent chance of winning the game.
