Trout has the best OPS in baseball, he just hit a 3 run homer to basically win us the game earlier today. Old man McDonald should not be running with the best player in the league at the plate, especially when he isn't allowed to run with a inferior player like Pujols at the plate.

 

But as you say Trout should be able to run as well. What are the chances that McDonald is going to be able to score from first on hit? Pretty poor.  Now you have to string to hits together with two outs. Are you saying the probability of that is higher than the chances of the steal attempt + a single hit + Trout being able to hit leadoff the next inning if the steal fails?

I like Trout's chances to hit a double/home run in that situation considering the fact that he has the number 2 SLG % in the league right now.
