I think people might be expecting too much out of de la Rosa.  To me, he's still a total wildcard.  He was good last year, but doesn't have enough of a track record to just assume that that's the level he's going to pitch at moving forward.

in any case, Jose Alvarez is in the minors and could be their lefty specialist. I'd say Sean Burnett could be the guy but I'm sure his arm is about to fall off any moment

Jose Alvarez's Whip is too high to be the lefty specialist, if Burnett is not able to pitch, JD needs to find someone else.

Maronde had upside though...but for some reason his command and his stuff has declined. He was drafted as an intriguing lefty who could throw 92-95 with a hard slider. Now, he's throwing 90-92 with more of a loopy slider and his command just went down the shitter. Very weird drop-off for him

 

He could potentially be a good lefty specialist, but right now he just isn't that and this pen can't afford another arm who struggles to throw strikes
