The Yankees have already spent 300 million this offseason and they didn't land Cano. Damn! Expect them to still get Tanaka.

This makes sense, though.  Only 3 years, and still leaves them with $40 million or so to play around with and avoid the luxury tax. 

 

Soo Choo is looking for 6 years plus, and the Yanks are smart enough to avoid the 10 longer deals in this era where there is so much less PED use.  

They already signed 3 players and they still have more money left than the Angels.

Ellsbury, now Carlos Beltran -- Cano gone -- Yankees may have improved here offensively......but the Yankees big need from last year is PITCHING -- and the Yankees haven't done much there.

actually, they got very good value from their staff last year.  But they still have to replace pettite, hughes and rivera.

 

Their offense struggled mightily and now it's damn good. 

 

They were actually very smart not to commit that kind of money to Cano.  Better off overpaying a bit for Beltran for only three years.  That Ellisbury contract seems awful though.
