Why don't you keep this to the Schanuel thread instead throwing more shade on the GM that has been rebuilding an entire minor league and not one specific position while the game is progessing.

Escapes with another very good defensive play. I don't know where the overall defense ranks compared to last season but the eye test likes what they have been doing.

Well, that's my point: if you're going to draft guys in the first round because you believe they're essentially ML ready from the get-go, you better be right--because if they either flame out completely or need extensive development time, you don't have any organizational depth or any high-level prospects to step in. 

Sonny DiChiara is getting all the 1B starts at Salt Lake right now.  As I said earlier, he's been a complete bust: a .305 slugging % in the minors so far.  At AA, they're dividing 1B time between Sam Brown, who's basically a complete mystery at this point (not much pre-draft buzz, didn't play in the Angels system last year, got some exposure in spring training) and Eric Wagaman, who's a 27-year-old non-prospect.  At High-A, Matt Coutney, who'll be 25 in July, is getting the bulk of the playing time.  At Low-A, they're splitting 1B between Luis Torres and Cristian Garcia, neither of whom I've heard of until now; they're both 19-20-years-old, so who knows what they'll turn into.

So, yeah, if it's not Schanuel, it's either moving a guy to a different position or using stopgaps like Sano or Drury--or sign a free agent in the off-season and hope it works out.

Soriano is really depending on that curve for strikes. His fastball, is all over the place but he seems to have great command of a harder pitch to throw.

It'll be nice if Soriano can get through 5 today.  If he's efficient this inning, I wonder if they even bring him out to start the 6th?  Probably not, but I'd like to see it.
