Trout in HR Derby?

Recommended Posts

Does he really need go out there and market himself? He is already one of the faces of baseball.

Yes why not? I'm pretty sure that Angels are already preparing a longterm plan for Mike Trout so if he were to participate and win, he could add that to his resume. He could also pick up more sponsors by marketing himself as a masher. Hosting the All Star Game happens about every 30 years and he's near his hometown. I say let him enjoy the moment.

Mike Scioscia isn't a fan of Angel players in the HR Derby.  â€œIt’s an individual decision, but I’m not a fan of it,” Manager Mike Scioscia said of the derby. “It’s grueling for the participants. The number of full-gorilla swings you take … it’s like being on a driving range and hitting 10 buckets of balls. It’s tough. I haven’t seen somebody come away from that derby and be a better player for it.”

Mike Scioscia probably doesn't like All Star week anyway because he's not invited. He's also not Mike Trout's agent so he should just lock it up on this issue.
