Ohtani would be talking for about 2 straight minutes and then the translator would have some simple 10 second translation of what Ohtani said before coming to an abrupt stop. Even Ohtani was looking at him confused at times

A good interpreter can remember a good 30 seconds or so of speaking and then translate it word for word.  Some take notes and can do it for longer than 30 seconds.  This guy was summarizing.  That's what a layperson who speaks both languages typically does.  In this situation he needed an actual certified interpreter.  Not the dude with a Japanese mom who gets sushi twice a week.

Bingo, which is why Mota translations were always hilarious.  Dude said whatever the hell he wanted to say.

We know how intense Ohtani is about baseball. And how deep he goes with training and conditioning. And his fixation about being the best there is. And seeking championships. Totally committed and proactive about his career.

Yet they now paint him as a naive, trusting  innocent kid who had no knowledge at all about how his finances were being accessed?

Seems the narrative was tweaked and  reconstructed over the weekend to be an all out full force attack on Ippei. No gray areas or even a tiny hint of awareness. Even though Ippei apparently was gambling long term and was a confidante of Ohtani for years. And therefore kept his gambling issues hermetically sealed from Ohtani. While still finding a devious way to siphon millions from him.

This PR campaign comes straight out of political textbooks.

Ohtani may indeed be a victim in one way or another. But how the Dodgers and the media are framing this tends to arouse more questions than answers.

"Ireton, who grew up in Japan, is most well-known for his three years spent as Kenta Maeda's interpreter with the Dodgers from 2016 to 2018. During that time, he became something of a local celebrity among the team and its fans for his energy and sense of humor, which was well-documented on Maeda's Instagram page."

None of that changes the fact that he sucks at interpreting.

But cals said he sucks.

What about them hanging out in the dugout in Korea before Ippei did the announcement in the Clubhouse....?

Ohtani didn't beat the crap out of him for stealing 4.5M... They lived together and were inseparable for what 6 years here?.. and another 6 months, and SPT?

Now that Theft/Embezzlement have occurred has LAPD, APD been contacted? Is there a arrest warrant out for Ippei? Will LAPD/APD be doing a Presser for this as well? I mean....That is a crime, am I right? Or, are they only worried about the gambling and Ohtani the baseball player? If this has gone over since he was playing here then APD must have a criminal case going on as well? Beyond the Federal Gambling charges...

I mean Ohtani wants to press charges he's mad right?????

Just like everybody else I'm trying to figure this out. While I'm sure there are some illegalities that have occured are they that egregious? The way I see it is.

A. Ohtani bet on SOCCER..WGAF!

B. Ohtani covered his friends gambling debt?

C. Ippei stole from Ohtani?

Someone correct my moral ineptitude and why are some so ready to crucify Ohtani...bc he's a Dodger?
