I feel halos could sign someone better but maybe this off season little money will be spent. Kolarek no more than 19 inn since 2020.

lol you guys, this is like a breath away from being a minor league deal. It's less than a mil for like a 35 year old lefty. It's basically just a fringe depth move with a little more guarantee to it.

We basically need an entire bullpen this winter (IMO) and they need to make a few cheap deals like this.

haha yeah you're right. I'm just going to stay "Aggressive" all offseason for fun because I think this will be a tough one for the Angels. Just going to have some fun with it.

He's older, has walks problems, and hasn't pitched in the MLB level much the last couple seasons.

I think a ton of other guys around 25 years old could have easily filled this role.

Haven't read all of this thread, but the Angels could have been in competition for his services, which required them to offer a MLB contract. Additionally, $900K is basically something you can DFA and not feel bad about it with the Angels large payroll. It is essentially a flyer on a guy that is a specialist and will, in the scheme of things, not overtly impact our roster and payroll.

So it's fine. The signing has more upside than downside and allows Minasian to continue the attempted Ohtani re-signing discussions while continuing to fill in the roster holes, via shopping in the bargain bin.
