And your choices if I recall correctly are minor league managers who may or may not be any good and I can’t imagine what you’ve seen them do that gives you any confidence they can be good major league managers.

My confidence comes from the fact that they are regarded around the industry by highly respected baseball ops as potential managers of the future.  You and many others’ confidence on these guys is you liked watching them play for the Angels

The nostalgia candidates don't make any sense to me. Seems like if the Angels are a serious org they should hire a serious person to be the field manager.

Of those on your list I would agree that Showalter makes the most sense. But I chose "other" because I would like to see someone younger.

I don't know if he'd be a good manager, but I like Torii Hunter, the man.  I'd be fine with him.

Is there any reality where we could have some combination of Torii, Ersty and Percy all in the dugout?  Unless Perry makes some serious ninja roster moves, I don’t see us seriously competing for another couple years, so I am all for letting Torii and/or Erstad cut their teeth as an MLB manager.  I love the personality that both guys could bring to this club, especially for the young guys.

If one of Hunter/Erstad was willing to be like a 1B coach, maybe.

I could see one of Hunter/Erstad as manager with Percival as pitching coach. But I think you’d need to put an experienced bench coach with a rookie manager.

I am intrigued by Victor Rojas' suggestion of Ron Washington. He relates well to players, they seem to accept his suggestions, and he has unfinished business after the way that things ended at Texas.
