Gameday Thread: (8/9/23) Giants @ Angels: Ohtani on the mound

Before this series, the Giants were 15-5 in games started by an opener.

After this series, 15-7

Efficient game. Keep the score down on the other side and focus on situational hitting.  The sort of game they need to string together two out of three times like in this series. But Ohtani won't be on the mound most of the time.

I mentioned on another thread that Moustakas is a pro rated team MVP candidate. Big important game changing hits. Competent enough at two positions. A team leader.

And actually happy to be here.

There should be a place for him next year. Even in a reduced role. 

Tough times potentially looming in Texas. But maybe the pendulum is now swinging the other way.

Now they get to hopefully benefit from 7 off days (including today) out of the remaining 53 days.

The bullpen definitely benefits from it, and now being at pretty much full strength once Lopez and a hopefully recharged Devenski return.
