  1. By any measure - WAR, championships won, versatility - Ruth is the better player. Trout would have to have a massive resurgence to even come close at this point. He has almost 100 WAR to close the gap. Does anyone think that could really happen? Ten 10 WAR seasons? We wish. BTW Ruth had an amazing 1.214 post season. Can’t argue with that.
  2. I’ll do the board a favor since some seem to think I’m not a “real” fan since I dare criticize the elephants in the room. Bet on the other team in every game between now and the end of the season, unless Ohtani is throwing. Thank me later. You can be a fan and still profit from their lack of effort. It’s just a game. Take care of your family first.
  3. Name one all time great who hit .287 in the late season, consistently. Yeah, three close games where he needed to step up. By all appearances he’s a nice guy and family man and I respect that. Especially given his money and fame he didn’t go off the rails. But unless he picks it up he is out of the goat discussion. When is the last time he was able to complete a season?
  4. Are you really trying to claim that if Trout had hit his normal 1.0 OPS in the playoffs that they wouldn’t have had a chance? I disagree. Now, it’s not his fault what Hamilton, Pujols, etc did after that but he had a chance and didn’t seize it.
  5. The best hope for this team is to sign Ohtani, and for Trout to realize he’s not getting any younger which could light the fire for him to really want to win it all just once. I hope that happens. But if I were a betting man….
  6. Peaks in June and goes down every month. I was off by one month but the point stands. Throw in his playoff average in October and it looks like a graph of the Titanic’s buoyancy.
  7. If someone can’t see they Ohtani has a passion and drive to win that is far greater than Trout’s, they have no social IQ. Trout would be more fun for me to hang out with in the real world. We both love hunting and he’s very chill. But in a baseball game give me Ohtani every time.
  8. Nice to see Schnauel botch the game losing play. I told you they brought him up way too fast. Poor kid. What a clown organization.
  9. I was all for trading him way back when. He proved early on he’s a world class choker. 1 career hit in the playoffs and sub .100 batting average lol . Go look at his splits: batting average by month. Peaks in May and BA goes down every month after that, consistently. Same with RISP. Contrast that with Cabrera who hit a game winning HR in his first mlb game EVER and led the Marlins to their first WS win in his rookie season. Some have the fire, some don’t. At least he’ll be ready for bow season which is apparently his favorite October activity. Mine too. Hunting elicits far more passion than baseball.
  10. Yes they were. I bet on five games in a row before that game and was right every time, several thousand in total bets, and stated BEFORE the game I thought the Angels would win that one. I studied team patterns, the Rangers seem to lay down when they already have the win in a series, and the Angels panic and win one game out of a series over and over. The Rangers won the first two and lost the last game in the previous two series, one against the lowly A’s. Team psychology is real.
  11. I would argue that Detmers has been anything but fine. One game in which the opposing team was mailing it in doesn’t make up for his performance. Joyce with his 2+ WHIP? I could go on but let’s just see how it plays out.
  12. Because AA is just like the big leagues. Last I’ll say about it, I think it’s a mistake. Like so many of our prospects we rush, he’ll look good for a short time, pitchers will figure him out, and it will end badly.
  13. So you don’t think we have a recent history of pushing players up too fast, to their detriment? I strongly disagree. Maybe when we were in the playoff hunt it made sense. Now it seems desperate and prone to be backfiring.
