... and this NY Post article adds some additional color, including answering one of the questions I had in the other thread: the Angels won't be part of the Amazon Prime deal, since they're not one of the teams to which Diamond has streaming rights.

Detroit Tigers, the Kansas City Royals, the Miami Marlins, the Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays right now. I believe Manfred wants to work his own deal with them.

I heard MLB wasn't in favor of Amazon getting streaming rights. True? Ramifications, if any?

As I understand it, MLB didn't want Amazon to get partial rights (as in the 5 teams to which Diamond had the streaming rights) because they wanted the ability to negotiate an overall deal for all 30 teams with Amazon or another streaming distributor. MLB can still object to this deal in bankruptcy court.

You would assume that for now the Angels deal is remaining the same since they weren’t part of the Amazon deal at least for this year.

Yeah, I think the Angels were set for this year, regardless. I'm just still not sure this deal (if it goes through) changes much for the future. I could be wrong, though, since not all the details are out yet.

Unless the deal gets blown up by MLB and/or the Bankruptcy Court…🤷‍♂️

I'll take either one, but would prefer the latter.

The only players the Angels have to sell are the very ones who are supposed to be the future of our franchise. Unless someone will take part of Rendon's contract.

An argument can be made to trade Ward, Rengifo, Drury and Sandoval, plus someone like Estevez.  But he was referring to Arte selling.

So does this mean if I have Prime Video, I can actually watch the Angels? I've been wondering how I can watch games this year after making the switch to Youtube TV

No. The Angels are not part of the Amazon deal at this time (assuming the deal even actually goes forward).

If miami is actually dumb enough to part with arreaz i would kick the tires on that one hard along with one of their young arms.

He would be perfect at 2b and top of the lineup for the halos.

To be fair, this whole situation is a clusterfuck at this point. Diamond has done some shady stuff, so it's not all on Manfred.

I don't blame Manfred and MLB....They have to look at things through a broader lens than Diamond or Amazon.....Amazon potentially could provide a longer term solution but the shorter term fix isn't necessarily good for all of MLB...
