I'm willing to wager that Barria and probably a few other guys in AA/AAA could perform just as well, if not better, than Lorenzen next season for the minimum salary or just above it.

Again, just truly baffled by people who want to re-sign mediocre-to-shitty players who've done nothing to help the Angels thus far, but for some inexplicable reason, think that they'll be better moving forward.  Lol.  Maybe I need to take another break if this is the state of things.

I think the same thing about free agent pitchers that everyone wants.

I liked what I saw out of Lorenzen in most of his starts, but if he doesn't come back it's a moot point.

There's almost nothing available on the FA starter list.

Agreed. The bullpen needs work. However, Loup, Tepera are back, Bradley probably could be resigned, all have been not good, but relievers are volatile and they have been good in recent seasons.

The lineup though, with a healthy Trout, Ohtani, and Rendon, Rengifo and Ward if they're hitting, has four question marks. Obviously the other four question marks and four bench spots are going to be filled by Adell, Fletcher, Walsh and an assortment of other players both internal and external.

"Healthy Trout and Rendon" is really a key here though, isn't it?  As great as Trout is, his health hasn't been great in recent years and there's certainly reason to be concerned moving forward.  Rendon looks like he's falling apart now too. So .. I don't know.  I hope they can be, but I am skeptical about it for now.  Rendon is starting to look like another one of those albatross contracts we have signed players to recently ..

That still doesn't mean that you should spend a ton of money on mediocre guys.

75M reasons to hope they play everyday.

And that's the case for the next 4 seasons.

They need better depth, yes, but that comes with lineup as a whole.

Never said a ton. However, Syndergaard is arguably the best SP on the FA market, seeing as DeGrom and Kershaw will not be going anywhere and Rodon has already picked up his 2023 option.  Do you want Manaea or Flexen? Eovaldi?

1. Kershaw

2. DeGrom

3. Syndergaard

4. Tailon

5. Clevinger

Tallion’s ERA is over 6.00 in his past 37 innings.

Clevenger comes off of pitching very little the past 3 seasons (20 starts), although he’s done pretty well since returning to the mound over 2 months back (11 starts, 3.13ERA, 1.08 WHIP, over 5 innings/start).

Am I in Bizzaro World?  Have things gone completely off the rails during my two-month break?  Why in the world would anyone want Lorenzen back?  Seriously, I don't get it.  Neither Syndergaard nor Lorenzen did ANYTHING this season to suggest that they would be good candidates to sign for 2023 and beyond.  Anyone who thinks they did is delusional.
