Too late. cals has already taken a screen shot of every one of Taylor's posts and is waiting for the right moment to destroy the guy.

Thanks, TG! It all started when I was born, in the year 1989 ...

Just kidding. My dad has been in the TV and film industry for about 40 years. For the past few years I'd been itching for a career change, and last year my dad invited me to join his production company as his creative director. Along with that came opportunities to write and produce. One of his ongoing projects is executive producing a slate of lower-budget RomComs, so he asked if I wanted to write one to test my hand at screenwriting. Turns out I'm pretty good at it. I'm currently rewriting another RomCom script that will go into production later in the summer.

It's been a crazy whirlwind. There are people who spend years and years trying to break into the industry, so I realize I'm very privileged to have a dad who could give me these opportunities. He told me his mantra is, "Someone you know can open the door for you, but it's your talent that will keep the door open." I'll keep working hard to keep that door open.

@Taylor- were you on set for the making of the movie?  Were you involved in casting?

What's your next project?

I was on set during production as an associate producer. Basically, I worked with my dad (the executive producer) and the director and gave notes along the way. It was bizarre to see words I had written on a page come to life.

As for my next project, I'm rewriting a RomCom script and will soon be starting on a pilot script for an upcoming series. The series was originally going to be a feature length film that I was tapped to write, but one of the producers decided about a month ago it would work better as a 6-part series, which I absolutely agree with. He asked if I wanted to write all six episodes, and I said yes. So I'll be getting a "Created by" credit in the near future.

You are part of the WGA at this point, right?

Not yet. That's my top career goal at this point. All these projects are lower-budget and not able to pay WGA money. It's unfortunate, but I recognize I need to build credits to get opportunities that will allow me to join the WGA. I'm mostly looking forward to their health insurance.

They are one of the cheapest of the Union buy in and dues costs and shortest tenure before retirement benifit start accumulating. It's a good deal at your age since you can log your 20 long before most people can retire.
