The rule makes perfect sense, you just don’t like it. Reminds me of little league when my friend threw a fit because he got thrown out at first base by the right fielder. The game has been played at such a high level for so long that people think of the meta-game as the way the game should be played more than the actual way the game was designed.

Edit: Also my post wasn’t about the dropped third strike rule, it was about all plays in the game in general.
