These billion dollar space projects are usually a waste of money.  But the JWST is really delivering.

Watch out for these astronomical events in 2023

Interesting one is Feb 1, where a comet might be visible.  I saw the last surprise one, and it was pretty spectacular in the sky and worth a night hike.  

Oct 14th is a partial solar eclipse that will be at 80% in the so cal region.  

May 29th, Mercury.

Aug 27th, Saturn.

Sept 19th Neptune

Sept 22, Mercury again

Nov 3, Jupiter

You'd be better off taking a series of 10-15 second exposures and then stacking them together in a photo editor.
