I’m interested to see who the Angels take in the 11th round tomorrow.

I wonder if they’ve saved enough pool space to go over slot on a high upside high schooler there. 4-5 of their day two picks seemed to be senior signs or guys with little leverage, which would give them some space to work with in theory. Unless they needed to do that because Neto, Joyce, and/or Madden are over slot?

This is what it felt like they were going to do.  I didn’t know the name, but it certainly felt like they would go with a tough sign guy in the 11th round, similar to what they did last year.

Funny, this is the second time Southard was drafted by the Angels.  Was their 20th round pick in 2019

I will say this about Minasian, perhaps the best thing he has done has been his drafting. His FO has put huge emphasis on completely restocking the Angels' farm when it comes to arms, which was something Atlanta did well years ago to set up their current team. Load up on pitching and don't be afraid to deal from that pool as it develops and have a continual source of arms to pull from. 

The Angels' pitching depth should look fantastic by 2024-2025, at least on paper, if their arms keep producing like last year's draft crop has in the minors this year, even if not impacting the MLB team. It will be attractive to other teams.
