It looks like his increased walk rate last year might have been a fluke.

Hope he can keep up the hot streak in the second half because the team is going to need it in order to make the playoff push.

And not drawing walks is a big reason why his slash line on the season is still .309/.336/.381. People would label his batting average up to this point as "empty". People would view his season differently if his batting average was .270, instead of .309. Old school folks might think he's having a great season because of his current batting average for 2021. OBP is very mediocre, slugging isn't too good either. His current slash line for this season is very average.

Fletch is awesome. I was completely wrong about him when he was a prospect. I thought he’d be a utility player at the absolute maximum. He’s an above average starter and borderline all star

We all wish he had more power and plate discipline. Hed be Dustin Pedroia if he did. But it doesn’t prevent him from being a above avg regular

So refreshing to see this team develop someone who wasn’t ever a top prospect into being a key contributor

He'll never have the power but the plate discipline is something that he can improve on.
