Ducks News & Rumors: Getzlaf, Rebuilding & More

Getzlaf as a 4th line center would not be horrible.  He could even slot 3rd, or higher based on injuries.  And with how the youngsters are looking.  I can see next year as the end of the tunnel.  Zegras and Drysdale should be up for good.  McTavish looked close.  Perreault is going to be up soon.  Pastujov looked good in the rookie faceoff.  Bandini is 23, so it's sink or swim time.  Groulx is 21 so he's close to sink or swim time.  On D.  Benoit is sink or swim time at 23.  Guhle is 24.  Andersson is looking good at 21.  Mahura needs to show he's up at 23.  And the wildcard is Rafferty at 26 with a bonus he's a RH.

The Ducks are not ready to compete. Makes no sense to hold on to Gibson

Especially when you do have a future replacement like Dostal.  And Stolarz in limited duty seemed more than capable.

Would be nice to sell high, and get a great return.

Yeah it still blows me away that Edmonton is willing to waste this season of McDavid/Draisatl full force with Smith and Koskenin in net. Or that Pittsburgh is willing to waste the last real shot with Sid and Malkin with Jarry

Conspiracy theory time?  Adding a Goaltender and Defenseman.  Even if it's AHL depth, does that mean the AHL players are moving up to the NHL club, and replacing NHL players.  I.E. Trade porn?

Minor Transactions: 10/1/21

  • While many teams are trimming their training camp rosters, the Ducks are adding to theirs, announcing the additions of winger Morgan Adams-Moisan and goaltender Frank Marotte to their camp roster.  Adams-Moisan had 14 points and 123 penalty minutes in 37 games with Fort Wayne of the ECHL last season while Marotte posted a .917 SV% in a dozen contests with Allen of the ECHL last year while making two appearances with Bridgeport of the AHL.

Who is the backup goaltender in San Diego ?

Wait and see, you'll be thinking Gibson ... and Stolarz will be traded.

Olle Eriksson Ek I think is the backup.  22 YO.  Not great numbers 15 G, 3.14 GAA, .901 S%.  But probably good enough to be backup in the AHL.  And he's still young enough to figure it out.

NHL Rumours: Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, Anaheim Ducks

Talks about the Ducks extending Lindholm.  I was for trading him to get picks and prospects, since his value should be high.  But the more I think about it.  I think everything will hinge on how he meshes with Drysdale.  Since Lindholm is a LW, and Drysdale is a RW, it just seems like the fit would be there.  That would give a solid vet with big rookie on the top D pairing.  And if it doesn't work out, trade him, since you have Benoit, Carrick, Guhle, Larsson, and Mahura waiting for their shot.
Second like would be Fowler and I guess Shattenkirk?  Unless Axel Andersson, or Brogan Rafferty can make the jump.  Rafferty is the intriguing one.  I wouldn't even put Manson in with Fowler, because that was a disaster the short time that was experimented with last season.  Shattenkirk as a bottom pairing would probably make the most sense.  Pair him with a young lefty.  Trade Manson for whatever you can get for him.

First round of cuts made.

https://www.sandiegogulls.com/news/detail/anaheim-ducks-assign-15-players-to-san-diego-gulls-october-4-2021

Assigned to San Diego (AHL):
Jack Badini - Center
Nikolas Brouillard - Defenseman
Trevor Carrick - Defenseman
Kodie Curran - Defenseman
Max Golod - Left Wing
Brendan Guhle - Defenseman
Louka Henault – Defenseman
Bryce Kindopp - Right Wing
Nathan Larose - Defenseman
Alex Limoges - Left Wing
Vincent Marleau - Center
Jacob Perreault - Right Wing
Greg Printz - Left Wing
Danny O’Regan - Right Wing
Brayden Tracey - Left Wing

Badini, Guhle are surprises, but I guess Guhle shouldn't be since he is a left shot, and we have a few of those still up.  Perreault I thought had an outside chance but I can see if they want another season at the Gulls.

I was being sarcastic (big surprise - I'm sure you knew that).

The real point is why?  Why is Bob even messing with having this guy here?  We're in a rebuild and Bob is using his time and team resources to play his typical Dumpster Dive fantasy.  Focus Bob.  Get busy doing the rebuild.

Is the guy seriously concerned about the #7 defensive guy this year? Or, is he just screwing around because he doesn't possess the skills to carry out a quality rebuild and this is his means of coping with his short comings?

The Samueli's need to do the fans, themselves, and even Bob a favor and cut the guy loose. He can't do this and someone else should be given a chance who possibly can.
