Anyone here willing to go Shawn Ekardt on Fowler and AP's knees so the team can have all of Rojas, Rengifo and Ward up while still having those two guys "mentor" and provide leadership from the IL?

Agreed.

Maddon's praise of CRod and other comments indicate he's basically earned a spot.  I do think he'll probably be the one who gets demoted once Pena is healthy, so they can perhaps work to start stretching him out, but having him start off as a reliever will be a good way to give him some MLB exposure while also helping manage his innings for the year.

And in truth, we probably don't really have any better options anyway.

Sandoval has looked better than Barria and we need another LHRP in the pen, so I think he makes it over Barria, who will be stretched out and serve as "next man up" if/when a SP goes on the IL.  Suarez should serve as depth after Barria.
