So does anyone know why they have baskets instead of flags on the flagsticks? Everyone on the broadcast keeps pointing to them but no one has sense enough to explain the reason behind using them.

Also, players started off on holes 1 and 11, not 1 and 10. Anyone know why?

He looked good with that long ass birdie, fist pump, and smirk

He sure did. But he was in a lot pain hitting out of the rough, and he's going to have more shots from there throughout this tournament. Can he handle it? Remember, he won a U.S. Open on a broken leg, so his pain threshold is pretty high.

I thought I read about the baskets instead of flags in SI, but I can't find the article.  Here's one that still doesn't really explain it (according to the club historian, he's not even sure).  I think the pros look to the trees to check wind more so than the flags anyway.

I'm surprised at Phil on the leader-board, but I'm rootin for Adam Scott right now.  Tiger doesn't look so good...

I actually missed a lot of the day, or saw it in spurts because of the delays.

I strangely always forget about his.playoff win over Rocco with is crazy because watching it live it was one of the gnarliest sports accomplishments I've ever seen.

Luke Donald giving back most of what he gained, now only -1. Tiger sitting at +2, but has made a couple of birdies to get back into it.

Only three guys under par, and two of them have yet to begin their second round.

Tank, i guess what I am trying to say, is that besides the par 3's it ishard to recognize holes.

A live the way the course fits the landscape though. Looks very natural.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Nothing really stands out as a signature hole, like 12 at Augusta or 18 at pebble beach.
