Victor Rojas - GM ?

Today's LA Times (does anyone read that anymore?) had a story today (December 10) that Halos broadcaster Victor Rojas interviewed for the Angels GM job,

Also - his family side gig is selling baseball/ sports gear (shirts etc) with baseball themed logos but no player names as Rojas' shop is not officially licensed by MLB and approved by the MLBPA -- apparently his company's big seller this off season is Dodgers 2020 World Championship stuff - shirts etc.

LA Times opined that some Halos fans may raise a ruckus over this -- Rojas selling Dodgers stuff -- me? not so much -- I like his entrepreneurial spirit and good for his kids and his family if they can make some bucks off this --

as for the GM thing - first thing that crossed my mind was when Jerry Coleman went from the announcer's birth to manager of the San Diego Padres - that experiment lasted one year.  Oh well - Rojas has been around the game a long time in different capacities (literally grew up in the game with his father) - he could probably be a GM if he wanted to -- but would likely have to give up the announcer gig and be an assistant GM for a few years either in Anaheim or somewhere else.

Only announcer I felt could be a GM or front office guy was Chick Hearn with the Lakers -- I don't think any coach knew the game better than him,.

He has two “Dodgers” themed shirts, one a tribute to Hollywood and one to Vin Scully.

He doesn’t have a license with any player or MLB so the shirts are all vague. I think the Scully one says “It’s Time for World Championship Baseball...”

Larry Dierker went from the booth to the dugout after 15+ years calling Astros games and no coaching experience..  Dude won a manager of the year award and had them win the division four of the five years he managed.
