This season was crap but all that is going to change this winter. It’s probably going to be Eppler’s most important offseason to date.

That’s pretty cool, to see the eventual WS champ in your first game in person.

I believe it was their swing guy in the rotation Daryl Patterson but my 10 year old little leaguer brain could be mistaken. 

I do distinctly remember that when Detroit native and local homegrown idol Willie Horton took his place in left field I remember the fans in the stands behind him began banging the wooden chairs in unison and chanting his name. This was less than a year after the '67 riots when Willie took to the city streets in uniform with a megaphone to try and quell the locals. Only a couple of months before Willie would throw out Lou Brock on a close play at the plate to help seal a WS win over the Cards.

Well, there are numerous thoughts running in my brain now.

 

Why you need to bring in a couple of starting rotation arms.

1. Your choices of Harvey & Cahill blew up.

2. Tyler Skaggs passed. His replacement is not here or isn't ready yet.

3. Your current rotation is on a 70-80 pitch limit and rarely gets through 5 innings.

4. We are still within striking distance of a Wild Card Spot.

5. You want your team to know you still believe in them.

6. You want your fan base to continue to come to the games.

7. Your bullpen is wearing down. Due to the Rotation not going deeper in the games consistently.

8. Another wasted season.

 

 

The reasons why you don't make a move.

1. You've given up on the season.

2. You over value your prospects.

3. You over/under value your Big League roster.

3. You are on a short leash.

4. Everyone is still reeling from Skaggs passing.

5. Your team is emotionally and mentally toast.

6. You are already considering a change up top.

7. You are in hopes you can fix it during the winter. 

8. AP#5 won't go away.

9. You hope your fan base doesn't revolt.

10. You can't add salary.
