50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing

Recommended Posts

Chris Kraft, the founder of NASA's Mission Control and flight director for Project Mercury and some Gemini flights, died today at the age of 95.

He just made the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 before passing away.

Wow, documents have been released that show a hospital in Ohio probably made some terrible mistakes that ended up killing Neil Armstrong in 2012.

The hospital settled with the family for $6 million.

Unbelievable series of events, but I understand this kind of negligence is not rare these days.

I was searching for something new to watch about the moon landing yesterday and found this 6-part series from the Smithsonian Channel - Apollo's Moon Shot. I've watched the first 3 parts and have really enjoyed it.

Finally got a chance to finish watching this series. So glad I did. The moon landing is covered in E4, so 5&6 deal with everything through Apollo 17.

I was so pumped up that I watched Apollo 11 afterwards.

I was 10. We were at my grandfather's house in Victor, Montana, sitting in his family room the 10 of us. Grampa, his wife Colleen, my Mom and Dad with my 3 brothers and two sisters.

When the Eagle landed my grandfather looks over and says, good job, John, to my father. They now rest 100 feet apart and about a mile from that family room.
