Kole Calhoun

I’ve been a Calhoun supporter due to his incredible defense. But the offense doesn’t exist anymore and he needs help. I also think that putting him as a leadoff hitter will not help his situation. 

In all honesty, I’m sick of him batting leadoff and there’s absolutely ZERO reason why he should be in the number 1 slot. Fletcher, LaStella, Goodwin and Rengifo (not in any special order) should leadoff before Calhoun’s name is ever brought up. 

Fletcher needs to be leadoff in my opinion.

Kole is on pace for 35 home runs, but it doesn't mean he should be leadoff.

Fletcher, Goodwin, LaStella, Rengifo, and Simmons would all be better choices for leadoff than Kole.

I'd put La Stella at leadoff vs. RHers

Calhoun is still ok vs. RHers.  He can platoon once we get back to full strength.

DFA Bour, Calhoun covers 1B and 4th OF, DFA Bourjos, promote Rojas. 

OF: Upton, Trout, Goodwin, Calhoun

IF: Cozart/La Stella, Simmons, Fletcher, Rojas/Pujols/Calhoun

He’s a prime example of how people can get caught up on batting average still. I don’t think it’s ever going to recover for him. He’s a .240 hitter at best for the rest of his career, I’d imagine. 

The power has really kept him afloat - if he can keep drawing walks he will have embraced the three true outcome approach and might be solid still, but the power and walks will need to stay consistent, and he hasn’t been able to keep either consistent for years now. 

May will be a big month for him. He and Goodwin will be playing for their role once Upton returns.

Kole's numbers in the last 5 games:

.250 BA   .318/.600/.918

he also continues to play outstanding RF.

So bring up Rojas who is not on our 40an roster and send down Rengifro who is on our 40 man roster.  What makes you think Rojas is better than Rengifro?

We need more help at the corners than we do up the middle. Rojas is better suited for that, Rengifo better for the middle.

Rojas is on fire, Rengifo is not.

Rojas is 26, Luis is 22. Better to find out now if Rojas is real. We have Luis for the long-haul still.

I think that is about to change when Ohtani is ready....Pujols will play as much 1b as he can with Ohtani as DH....the question would be how long it takes Pujols to break down playing 1b....then you could see Bour again...

250/316/691 for your first 16 at bats in the big league diesnt seem too bad to me.  

It's really unfair to compare Rojas hit hitting in salt lake with Rengifro batting in the majors!

Finally who do you cut from the 40 man roster when you bring up Rojas?

I think he suggested DFA Bour and Bourjos which would make room.

I refuse to complain about Calhoun... the farthest I will go on this is that I would agree that he shouldn't lead off. 

What happened to guys who have great years in the final year of their contract?  That club option isn't likely at this point for him.  It's really too bad.  I am kind of sad about it.  This guy has given us so many great memories/moments.

I dont think you keep a .240 hitter in your lineup other than at a platoon roll ever. Should always be looking to upgrade those player. I understand they are currently shorthanded.
