I know you weren't asking me but as someone who follows CBB more obsessively than even the Angels the Cronin hire was such a fantastic move they basically fell into after a disastrous coaching search...UCLA never hurt for talent but they haven't had toughness or discipline and Cronin will sure as hell bring that to the table and get the most out of his recruits.  Plus he's incredibly entertaining to watch on the sidelines so that's always fun

What i hope is adds 1 more assistant with local ties for recruiting and we need to go back to those 3-4 top 100 hs players ala Shipp, Collison, Mata, Hollins, Powell guys who have the talent and will give us years of consistency and depth.

Yeah that'd be my concern, he needs an assistant who can recruit/drop bags in So Cal

It would be nice if the Angels prioritized winning for a few years while Trout is in his 20’s.

I'll agree with the ones frustrated right now if they pull the same stuff in 2020 tbh. I can accept them not really looking at 2019 but they got Trout signed long-term now, they have several prospects likely making their debuts at some point this season and next, and they  have no real ugly commitments going forward beyond the final 2 yrs of the Pujols contract.

Keating would be perfect.

We’ll see man.  They sort of punted this year with a lot more good players available.  I can’t believe signing Trout or not had them in complete stand by.

We'll never know but I can definitely see them having pause on handing out long-term deals on guys with them not knowing for sure if Trout would sign an extension. They'd then be left with these big money commitments on 30+ yr olds in their decline years all the while they watch as Trout walks in FA. Would be a depressing future

Or they could have gone after Manny Machado.

The Bruins will be playing physical defense next year.  It's to be determined of Cronin can recruit on a top ten level.  Consistent top 25 teams keeps Cincinnati happy.  Top 25 team gets you fired at UCLA.  They need to be in championship contention.  It will be interesting to see how he does.
