The Angels will go without third baseman Zack Cozart for at least “a few weeks,” skipper Brad Ausmus tells reporters including J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group (via Twitter). He has been diagnosed with a grade 1 calf strain.

Well...this looks to have been a pretty horrendous signing.

Not that bummed about it though. I want to see what Ward can do.

Honestly I don’t even care.  I’d rather see the young guys on the field.  That’s the whole point of what the angels are doing right ? Cozart was probably a mistake.  Hopefully he can prove that wrong but it seems unlikely that he will.

Let's give the guy a chance. If this occurred in the reg season, he would probably be back in a week. ST gives them the luxury of giving him a couple weeks. 

I think he's still our starting 3rd sacker.

If he could ever get healthy, he might have some trade value as a shortstop....he was generally regarded as a good defensive SS....maybe in a perfect world, Ward and Fletcher/Rengifo win jobs this spring, play well and then Cozart comes back during the season, just when a contender has a need for a SS and takes at least a little of the money off our hands....

I’m not interested in watching the kids play ... I’m more interested in winning. As of now I want Cozart on the field. I like Taylor Ward ... just not ready to see him as a starter.

Oddly enough, the team just got better. Put money aside and just make it an open competition between Cozart, Fletcher, Ward, and Rengifo and guarantee you Cozart probably doesn't finish first or second.

I'm hoping this will mean Ward at 3B, Rengifo at 2B and La Stella spelling them both, but more than likely this just means Fletcher at 2B abd La Stella at 3B.

you all know what's gonna happen.  

Cozart will start the year on the DL.  Ward will open the year as the starting 3bman and do well.  He'll get sent down when Cozart returns only for Zack to do poorly.
