With the Rich Rod scandal in Football and now this....not a pretty year for the UofA athletic department.

We are heading down for senior night this Saturday (my son is graduating and is a member of the pep band).  It's going to interesting.

Looks like ESPN has some wrong info on this scandal.

According to the source, relevant FBI wiretaps in the investigation did not begin until 2017—months after five-star recruit Deandre Ayton had already committed to Arizona in Sept. 2016. This account is consistent with reporting by Evan Daniels of 247Sports. The recruitment of Ayton, therefore, would have not been at issue in an intercepted phone call that occurred in 2017. To that end, the source told SI what Miller clarified for the first time Thursday: Ayton is not the player on whose behalf former ASM Sports employee Christian Dawkins allegedly sought a payment from Miller, and Miller never pursued paying or made any payments to a recruit associated with Dawkins.

I dunno, man.

This WILL be interesting.

ESPN is actually saying that the conversation took place in 2017:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadspin.com/espn-retracts-correction-in-sean-miller-wiretap-story-1823440125/amp

Also, the part of your quoted post that I've highlighted is absolutely faulty in terms of logic. When Ayton actually committed and signed his LOI is irrelevant in terms of the conversation allegedly being held.

For example:

He could have been paid after the fact and as such they could have been discussing the payment.

I think you have to parse the words very carefully here.

Miller could be innocent, but he also could very well not be. You should NEVER trust the words of an NCAA basketball coach, no matter how much you want to. Men's college basketball is filthy with cheating and money.
