So if he opts out, Angels basically renting him for 1-2 months tops. Better not be giving up any of their main prospects for 30'ish games or so of production

i like the idea of taking him regardless as it shouldn't cost top guys if were taking on the money and/or the risk.  
This is the kind of deal ive been hoping for that we can see an upgrade AND not lose the progress on the farm. 
Slotting him behind Trout will be a lot of fun i think, and the reason he was opting was not wanting to be in a rebuild so we would have a shot to keep him.

Yeah, if he told Detroit he was opting out at the end of the year, I can't really see them getting much. 

Only reason we will have paid will be if we had to beat out someone else's asking price.
