Hoops McCann, you are absolutely correct. If you care about the future of this franchise it is vital to keep Scioscia as our manager this year. We need the slot money that comes from having a high draft pick.

No, why ruin our chances of a top 2014 rule 4 draft pick. Keep Scioscia and hope for a 100 loss season, or at least a top 10 draft pick so When Arte demands we sign a the next 34 year old "slugger" to a $150 million deal at least we can still have hope in a top prospect.

Actually, the first overall pick is starting to sound pretty sweet. Imagine we could get a Strasbourg type pitcher that could come through the minors quickly and be an ace, like Bruce Rondon.

Marlins and Astros are pretty bad though, and Weaver, Madson, Jepsen, Burnett, and Bourjos all return within the next 3 weeks. 

 

But it is fun to dream of drafting Rondon.   Knowing our luck though, he'd probably go Matt Bush on us within 3 years.

Umm, unless I missed something, aren't competitive balance draft picks able to be traded? Not that it matters, just thought the new CBA changed that portion of it.

Not that I know of.  draft picks are still not tradable. Especially now that picks are slotted in money.
