He's one of the very few closers that doesn't need to nitt pick, he can pitch right down the middle knowing they have zero chance of hitting anything he's got.

Frieri has not been that great once the league learned to lay off his pitches. I do not have issue with Scioscia using him for the one inning. No sense in wearing him out. Had he went out for the 10th and blew it, everyone still would be screaming for Scioscia's head.

What are you talking about?  His BB rate/WHIP is up but he is still striking out 12 per 9.  Only 7 hits in 13 innings.

Higher BB rate and WHIP is just what you don't want in a closer. I'm not saying he sucks but just don't like him as a closer
