Shohei Otani, who is pretty comfortably the most exciting Japanese prospect ever, might be coming to the MLB next year and would be a truly incredible signing. I look forward to seeing which over-the-hill player we sign to an overly expensive contract instead.

I hope you're right but that seems excessively optimistic for someone who has always been a 3 WAR or better pitcher when healthy.

hopefully we sign him and he's the second coming of Irabu or Dice-K! 

no japanese player will ever have the hype of Dice-K and his gyroball. $103 million... another great Red Sox signing
