They're eight games ahead of us, and it's only the first of July.

True, but in fairness, one team he worked on for a few years while the other team he just starting working on.  It will sure be interesting to reassess both teams after a few years.

For me, the answer was always, "They're my hometown team. I grew up just down the road."

I grew up near Lincoln & the 57 and went to Valencia HS in Placentia, so it was as natural to me as breathing the smog-filled air.

I wonder how many Cubs fans have been asked that question?

Probably not as many as you would think. The cubs were in Chicago first and their fans wear their suffering as a badge of honor. (much like boston fans did before they won a World Series and became major douchebags)

Your situation is understandable given the proximity to the stadium. I was surrounded by dodgers fans, which only fueled my hatred towards their franchise.

Yes, hatred.

ANAHEIM – Although his team is languishing far out of contention, Angels general manager Billy Eppler is saying all the right things.

Or, depending on your perspective, all the wrong things.

Eppler held court with reporters before Tuesday night’s game against the Houston Astros and said he doesn’t see a scenario in which the team would go into an all-out rebuilding phase.

“With the position of this organization and the financial strengths of this organization, it’s not in the DNA here to rebuild,” Eppler said. “We’ll continue to invest. We’ll continue to invest throughout this season, with a mind for this season, with a mind for the future and this winter with a mind towards competing and contending year in and year out.”
