They want to charge the family of Tamir Rice for the ambulance ride after the cops murdered him

The Cleveland ambulance service is not a division of law enforcement. They have their own costs and billings and are not bound by the outcome of the patients they pick up or deliver to hospitals as to who they can or cannot collect from for services.

One city department is not responsible to pay or being held accountable for the actions or causation of harm from another. The bill will be contested as part of a wrongful death lawsuit as the responsibility of the Police department in due time. This is a lawyer pushing for face time in the news to ramp up the settlement,

They all get their checks from the City of Cleveland.  They were all fully aware of the Tamir Rice killing.  It was the biggest thing in Cleveland since the river caught on fire.  Someone from the city should have gone........."hmm".

Their job is not to judge what is right, wrong, fair or not but to do their job and bill accordingly. Again, it is a separate department and are not responsible for the actions of others. They have to balance their books at the end of the year and have to follow their own rules for billing. If the mayor wants to set aside that billing that is his prerogative. But it will come out of the cities budget one way or another to fund it and only the mayor can approve that.

MT is right. There is a human element to it. These actions are despicable.

The actions of the police department is not the responsibility of any other department involved in the cleanup. You guys can't seem to separate the two as if cities don't have completely independent social services that are not funded by one big pool of money but are on independent budgets and have their own guidelines.

Case in point, recently in California a Highway patrol officer arrested a fireman for not moving his truck when instructed. They both have their own rules and guidelines for emergency services but one department supersedes the other. They do not necessarily work together as much as work in conjunction.

Domo arigato Mr. Roboto.

Anyone one with a television or a radio in the Cleveland area would have thought that billing the family for this kid's ambulance ride to the afterlife would have been a terrible idea and a PR nightmare.
