Blackmon and Dickerson aren't peanuts.    Arte ain't interested.

#CheapAssArte may not be interested, but Nava and Gentry are the peanuts.  Dickerson & Blackmon have way more upside than the current pLOLtoon the Angels have.

Prefer signing free agents to trading what little talent and depth we have for something that only costs money.

to Arte's ears.  It's this philosophy that I have been preaching.   Spend to preserve the farm, but that ship has sailed.  We keep saying that we are all in, but that isn't really the case.  We flopped high pair and a flush draw yet we are limping in the rest of the way.

The angels biggest need is obp. Blackman and dickerson don't provide that.

We have enough HR threats right now.

Cron, Pujols, Calhoun and trout should all hit 20+ this year.

The lineup is riddled with question marks when it comes to obp.

I asked Fletcher about Dickerson and he said from what he has heard, the Angels are not interested in him either.

Unless something changes, it sure seems like the Angels don't want Blackmon or Dickerson.

I really think this is the case. The Angels seem quite fond of this platoon arrangement and keeping the draft pick and all of their pitching. Unfortunately Santiago seems like the most likely trade candidate in terms of getting full value (as opposed to Wilson's damaged value at the moment) and unfortunately for the Angels Hector's actual value is low if you use a WAR-based valuation system.

It truly would not surprise me to see them put Santiago in relief and roll out Richards, Wilson, Weaver, Heaney, and Shoemaker in the rotation and keeping Skaggs, Tropeano, and Smith in the Minors (and that might be a waste of Skaggs to be honest).

So his .347 OBP, which is higher than the following outfielders doesn't provide that?  OK

Dickerson isn't even as good as any of those guys, except Beltran and that's only because he's 50 years old

I think Soler is overrated after watching him.

Reminds me of a young Cuban Glenallen Hill

I totally agree.  Soler isn't the shizz that people make him out to be.  He's poor defensively and a question mark on offense.  I'd like to get Baez, but I think he's a bit overrated as well.  His ability to play MIF or 3b makes him a much better bet though.

Baez is going to jack 30 bombs a year while hitting .260. If he were an OF prospect, you say cool and move on, but as someone than can capably man SS and 2B, it becomes "holy crap I want him!".

As for Soler, just completely undisciplined, but I'm guessing he'll grow just enough to cover it up and produce a similar line to Baez.

I'd be fine starting Skaggs in SLC or pen to let him ease back in. We'll probably need him to fill in for an injured/traded starter at some point early on.

would either be an upgrade worthy of losing more parts?  thats the real question.  in my mind the answer is no, they dont bring enough  to the table over what we already have on paper.

A leadoff LF who plays 150+ games for us who hits .275-ish and gets on base over .300 and steals 43 bases for a probable #6 starter in our rotation?  Yes.  And twice on Sunday.
