Mike Trout only swung at the first pitch 27 times this season. He swung at 28 in 2014.

Trout won't win... because Donaldson had better teammates.  Silly, but they were fairly close in terms of production.

 

It's lame that he's only won one MVP.  You could argue he's been the best player every year. He should at least have two.

Cabrera's WAR was only about 2.0 less than Trout's in 2013, the non-triple crown year.

But it was nearly 4.0 less than Trout's in 2012, the triple crown year.

 

2012 to this point was Trout's best all around season.   He should have won the MVP in 2012.

If the Angels made the playoffs, Trout probably wins the award. Since they didn't, he'll likely lose by a wide margin.

Except for Mike Trout didn't lead the league in 2014 in home runs, batting average, OBP or OPS. The only categories he held were RBI and Runs Scored and you learned gentleman all know RBIs are meaningless.

What exactly are you arguing here?  Youre claim is we are all hypocritical because we dont believe Donaldson should win because of RBI/Runs, then you point out Trout led the league in both last year and we all wanted him to win.  Please enlighten us oh wise one.

You obviously were not following the thread or Tdawg comment about it being the Babe Ruth award but go ahead and keep making it clear you can't follow along.

Trout won last year based on more than a simple Ruthian scale of bubble gum card statistics. So now people want to argue that the writers are going to somehow revert to a lesser standard just because the race is close and their small weenies can't handle the concept that their guy might not get the award based on the entire years performance.

The race is close. Trout ****ed himself with his horrendous August, otherwise it would be a no brainer. But he did falter hard when the Angels were sorely needing him to be there. It is a consideration they cannot ignore considering the award is neither the Babe Ruth or Saber Slobber award.

I don't think you understood what I was saying.

 

The name of the award has nothing to do with specific stats. It's simply meant to go to the best player. Just like the Cy Young goes to the best pitcher.
