The UW game was dictated by the refs.  65 fouls in 50 minutes of play is ridiculous.  Didn't get a chance to watch the WSU game.  The Bruins are going to throw up some real clunkers this year but have been very strong at home in conference play under Alford.  2 wins this week would be a huge step forward...let's see if they can get it done.

What a win!  Much needed victory for the Bruins!  Pauley was rocking, much fewer Arizona fans than last time they came to Pauley.  Hopefully Bruins fans continue to flock to Pauley for the rest of conference play!  

 

Side note, Westbrook is ****ing awesome.

Yeah if Jacobs plays and his healthy again usc could put up some points. If he leaves the ball handling becomes so bad and offense is out of tempo.

Word on the street is that tomorrow's game at Wyoming may be the end of the Dave Rice era at UNLV. IMO it needs to be. He is in his fifth year, and the team is still making the same mistakes that they made when he got here. The Rebels last made the NCAA Tournament in 2013, and they haven't won a game in the tournament since 2008. This week's loss at Colorado State, in which the Rebels had the ball and a five point lead with 50 seconds left, seems to have been a tipping point with not only fans, but boosters as well.

USC pulled off a big win over #7 UofA in 4 OTs.

The talent level is there as is the bench depth.

Can they work their way into an NCAAT berth somehow?

Have heard several names mentioned as possibilities. Here are some according to CBS Sports.

 

Kelvin Sampson (Houston head coach)

Mike Brown (former NBA coach)

Steve Lavin (former UCLA and St. John's coach)

Leon Rice (Boise State coach)

Wayne Tinkle (Oregon State head coach)

Todd Simon (UNLV interim head coach)

Steve Henson (Oklahoma assistant)

Joe Pasternack (Arizona associate head coach)

Reggie Theus (Cal State Northridge head coach)

 

Steve Lavin is the name that I have heard mentioned the most locally. Whether that means anything, I have no idea.

 

UNLV pretty much had to do something. Their win total fell every year that Dave Rice was here, the team had not made the NCAA Tournament in several years and hadn't won a game in the tournament since 2008. The team appeared to be unprepared, and some players who transferred out complained about a lack of coaching on both the individual and team levels. The times that I saw them play they appeared disorganized and they were often beaten by teams with less overall talent. Rice could get good players in, but he seemed to have no idea what to do with them once they got here.

Leon Rice could be intriguing as a coaching candidate at UNLV. He built Boise St. from a really poor program to borderline top 50 status.

Steve Lavin is another Dave Rice, mostly recruiting and not much coaching.
