Trout had the best month of his career

NrM

Recommended Posts

21 Games

.367/.462/.861 1.323 OPS 12 HR 24 RBI 20 Runs

To put that into perspective, Pujols has had only 1 month in his entire career with a better OPS.

Miguel Cabrera and Ken Griffey Jr. both never had an OPS equal to or better in a single month.

Over Trout's last 40 games he's hitting .360 with an OPS north of 1.200

Some other july stats.

Calhoun

.320/.355/.560 .915 OPS

Pujols

.224/.269/.439 .708 OPS

What are the numbers for Bonds' best month?

Found it.

Holy sh*t.

Barry Bonds: April 2004 (.472/.696/1.132; 1.828 OPS)

Such a waste though. The only situation where you would rather have had your best hitter bat 3rd than 4th in the first inning is if the guy hitting 3rd hits into a double play after the first two reach. Other than that, whatever the cleanup hitter does is as good or better than doing the same thing from the 3-hole.

This is only a first at bat of the game situation, but that's where it's most obvious why the 3-hole sucks.

It would be interesting to see Trout bat behind Pujols. More RBI opporunity, but the drawback is fewer plate apperances (due to being lower in the lineup) and a higher chance of being logjammed by having slow baserunners ahead of him on the basepaths.

pujols doesn't get on base anymore so it wouldnt be an issue

Just realized we could actually call him KCal9 since he plays right. Validation!

That's the most clever player nickname on here since I coined "Number 5-4-3" referring to Albert Pujols.
