News came yesterday that Chick-fil-A is about to open their first restaurant in this pit of sin. The first of several restaurants in the Las Vegas area will be opening in Henderson sometime within the next year.

Fast food. Family rec places. Pretty much anything without a slot machine.

Mormons settled Vegas. A mormon banker made tons of loans to the original casinos. There are a lot of mormon business men in the hotel/casino business in vegas.

I don't really know who's in the casino business other than the corporate ownership but I did notice that pretty much all the small businesses were Mormon owned. My friend's kids complained because they always had to work Sunday because the Mormon kids working with them couldn't. My old boss did him mission in Ecuador. best Spanish speaking white dude I've ever known.

I'm jealous of you, VHF. Chick-fil-A still hasn't opened a location in Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Indio. The closest one is in Redlands.

I suppose that the last openly Christian run holdout chain is now Cracker Barrel. The nearest ones are in St. George, UT and Kingman, AZ.

I'm with you on that, Cal. The one I went to was pretty disappointing. The hype escaped me.

I don't understand the success of this place. I had it once and we like "meh" and never had it again.

Plus I hear their chickens diddle their sister chickens in the coops.

Some people are going nuts over it. I find it considerably overrated, and you can't get anything there on Sunday.

Cracker Barrel is also in Mesa Arizona, next door to the new Cubs Spring training stadium.

No reason to hype the place IMO as the greatest ever, but it sure is a good chicken sandwich. I like their Spicy Chicken Deluxe sandwich, and the waffle cut fries are a nice change of pace.

 

The foods always made fresh and hot, and the workers are friendly.

 

I go there once in a while and enjoy it.
