What this seems to translate to is that he was asking for more cash than the Yankees - Red Sox Sports Network was willing to pay. I'm not big on th NBA to start with, and I don't watch ESPN much. I won't miss him.

You haven't heard of Simmons? He started up Grantland. He's an asshat sometimes, but that website is great. Jonah Keri does fantastic baseball write ups. Best on the web IMO

I really like him and his work....one of the few podcasts I've listened to more than once. I like how he comes up with hypothetical or off the path sports topics, something random like athletes that look like they play certain movie roles....random things dudes sitting around a bar would talk about or you would only come up with after a few pints.

 

Grantland, 30 for 30, various shows and articles.....all Bill Simmons ideas/projects.

Simmons has become a parody of himself lately.  His stuff is way too wordy.  I loved 30 for 30 though.  Also it is a big FU from ESPN to boot him after he made Grantland into an empire.  It was his idea and he carried it out.  ESPN funded it though.
